Dear customers, On September 14, 2020, our company Gransy s.r.o. experienced a significant failure of its services. Unfortunately, this outage shut down some of our services for almost 14 days. Considering that a lot has been written about the outage on various portals and in several media, and due to the fact that no editors have asked us for an opinion or comment, we would like to explain what happened and provide information about the attack as we have experienced one. New system and regulations for .SK domain name

After many years and many delays the registry of .SK domain name sk-nic.sk announced that final date for migration to new system will be on 1st September 2017.
Basic information for migration of SK domain names:
- The migration will be done from 31st August 2017 22:00 to 2nd September 08:00 CEST.
- During the migration it won't be possible to administer any SK domain name.
- Domains expiring around 1st September has to be renewed before the process starts to avoid any problems with domain functionality.
- From 1st September new rules for .SK will apply:
- Domain registration of .SK won't be restricted to SK objects anymore
- The owner of SK domain name can be anyone who has existing post address inside EU zone
- In WHOIS databse except for name and surname everything else will be hidden in case of individuals.
- Local presence won't be available
- there will be ADR procedures
- New system will be similar to generic domains (.com, .info, ...)
- Transfers will be done with Authorization code and transfer will renew the domain by 1 year
Most of registered SK domain names under our system has our local presence contact. Regarding the new system and rules this won't be possible anymore and all domains with our Trustee has to be modified to the real owner data.
After migration to the new system we will be changing owners step by step with cooperation with our customers.
Check your .SK domain as soon as possible
We created a list of SK domains under your account where you will confirm which contact you would like to set on the domain name after the changes are done.
The list can be found in menu Other -> SK domains (located on the bottom of the menu)
We are asking all our customers to check and fill contacts for their domains which will be set on the domain after the migration. In case of any questions please do not hesitate to contact us and we will gladly answer them.
Changes in API
There are no changes planned in API. There will be only minor adjustments according to new rules in TLD settings (https://subreg.cz/manual/?cmd=TLD_Valid&tld=sk):
- Newly all contacts will be set on the domain name like for gTLD )registrant/admin/tech/billing)
- additional parameter sknicid will be canceled
- Trustee parameter won't be mandatory anymore but possible for registrants outside EU. For EU registrants this parameter will be ignored.
- period will be possible to set for 1 to 10 years

Uniregistry, registry for dozens of new gTLDs will be from 8th September increasing prices for chosen TLDs. For some the price change will be really major and Uniregistry defends it by the real value of the domain TLDs and the need to increase its marketing costs and promotion of new generic Top Level Domains. Originally they planned to increase price for all their domains but after huge disagreement from community they decided to fully increase price for domains registered after 08/09/2017 and for domains registered before this date the renewals will remain for similar price ("only" small increase will be added for them).

From the aforementioned date, Afilias’s fee for each annual increment of a new and renewal .info domain name registration and for each transfer of a .INFO domain name registration from one ICANN-accredited registrar will increase by 10 %.
SK domains - price cut and information about changes

We are happy to announce 10% price cut of .SK domain names. At the same time we are attaching more information relating to changes happening in .SK registry in the first half of this year.
Main information for transformation of .SK domains:
- The .SK registry will change the system of domain name registration and administration.
- Registration procedure changes its T&C.
- The restriction that the registrant has to be local in Slovakia will be cancelled.
- The new system will come in place on 31/05/2017 (the datum was postponed as originally it should have been changed from January).
- Private person will have to fill the date of birth in the registration of the domain name (won't be shown in WHOIS database).
- Legal person will have to fill its ID (VAT number).
- First two months after the new procedure will start it will be possible to change the owner of the domain name from local trustees to actual registrant contacts for free.
- Local trustee or WHOIS protection won't be allowed anymore.
- ADR procedure will be launched.
Because .SK domain names were mostly registered on our local trustee it will be necessary for administrators and owners of this TLD to change the registrant to their actual owner contacts. Our company won't be allowing the use of our trustee anymore. One of the reasons is a threat of extortionary fines for propagation of lottery webs (according to new SK laws).
We have prepared for you a table of your SK domain names with boxes to confirm new contacts used for your domains after the new system will be started.
You can find it in the Menu -> Other -> SK domains
Because new contact parameters are necessary for registrant contacts (VAT for companies and birth date for private person) you have to fill these for every .SK domain name.
We are asking all our customers to check and fill correct and actual domain registrants for their .SK domain names as soon as possible so these contacts can be used after the launch of the new system for .SK domains. We will be more than happy to answer all your questions regarding these changes so please contact us on our email adress.

ICANN updates Inter Registrar Transfer Policy and Transfer Dispute Resolution Policy (“TDRP”). The main change is Transfer Lock for 60 days after transfer / trade of the domain name.
New Procedure for gTLD names
ICANN Organization updates Transfer Policy and Transfer Dispute Resolution Policy (“TDRP”) since 1st December. Changes in Policies affect all generic domain names like .com, .net, .info but also new gTLDs like .shop, .guru, .club etc.
New Policies regulate the procedure of the owner change and their focus is to protect domain name owners from possible domain name thefts. Changes are being implemented for domain names under our administration at the moment.
Main changes in the owner change procedure
- Any change of the first name, last name, organization or email in the contact of the Registrant is considered to be change of the owner.
- The process will require authorization of the previous and new owner of the domain name.
- After succesfull changes the previous owner will be informed about completion.
- After succesfull changes the domain will get Transfer Lock for 60 days but previous owner can opt-out of this Lock. The opt-out has to be done before changes of the domain name.

FR domain
As of 16 February 2016, birth data will no longer be required for submission during the registration or ownership change of .FR (France) and other AFNIC domain names, namely .PM, .RE, .TF, .WF and .YT.
UK domain
As of 01 March 2016, the registry Nominet will launch common prices. Thus new registrations (incl. 1 year term) as well as renewals will be charged with new price.
Until February 29, 2016 you still have the possiblity to renew your .UK domains for the previous price for up to 10 years.
WS domain
In March 2016 the registry for .WS domains will adjust the annual price.

We'd like to inform our customers that effective as of July 30th is not limitation for domains .hr!
It means no limit for number of .HR domain registrations anymore (now every EU based company, Croatian company or Local person can register unlimited number of .HR domains).
.HR domain name now can contain numbers only (ex. 365.hr)
Last news is The CARNet's Governing council will decide on the procedure and conditions of domain registration in case the domain name consists of one or two alphanumeric characters and if domain name contains diacritics.

The Internet Infrastructure Foundation responsible for .se, the Swedish top-level domain, will be introducing updated Terms and Conditions of Registration applicable for .se-domains to enable the registration of single-character domains.
